About Us

The Kerala Abkari Workers Welfare Fund Board was constituted for the welfare and social security of abkari workers in Kerala. The Kerala Abkari Workers Welfare Fund Act, 1989, and the Kerala Abkari Workers Welfare Scheme, 1990, came into force from January 1990. The Board, as envisaged in the Act and the Scheme, became operational on April 5, 1990.
Workers employed in abkari establishments in Kerala excluding the toddy sector are covered under this Welfare Fund. ‘Abkari Worker’ means any person employed for wages in connection with the storage, bottling, labeling, transportation, or sale of liquor, and who receives such wages, either directly or indirectly, from the employer. In accordance with the provisions of the Welfare Fund Act and Scheme implemented from 01.01.1990, the primary responsibilities of the Board include Welfare of workers, determining the amount payable to the Welfare Fund, collecting
contributions, crediting the collected amounts to the accounts of member workers and notifying them, disbursing various types of loans, settling the Provident Fund of workers upon cessation of their employment, and providing gratuity and pension benefits.

To provide relief, enhance the welfare of Abkari workers in Kerala, and extend pensions and other welfare assistance to eligible workers.
