Kerala Abkari Workers Welfare Fund Board

The Kerala Abkari Workers Welfare Fund Board was constituted for the welfare and social security of abkari workers in Kerala. The Kerala Abkari Workers Welfare Fund Act, 1989, and the Kerala Abkari Workers Welfare Scheme, 1990, came into force from January 1990. The Board, as envisaged in the Act and the Scheme, became operational on April 5, 1990.

Workers employed in abkari establishments in Kerala excluding the toddy sector are covered under this Welfare Fund. ‘Abkari Worker’ means any person employed for wages in connection with the storage,
